Who Are Your Favorite Movie Couples?

posted by dross

Maria and Captain Von Trapp Donna Freitas has created this great new gallery of her 10 favorite movie couples. And yes, Maria and Captain Von Trapp from “The Sound of Music” are on the list. But would you believe, Edward and Bella of “Twilight” are not!?
Check out the complete list of Top Movie Couples, and post your thoughts below.

Freitas’s list does have way too many recent movie couples in it, IMO.
What, no Rhett and Scarlett? How about Dr. Zhivago and Lara? Bogie and Bacall, in “To Have and Have Not”? William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles? Tracy and Hepburn? Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn/Ingrid Bergman/Grace Kelly/Audrey Hepburn/etc, etc? Rock Hudson and Doris Day? Freitas’s list doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of great movie couples.

The list was limited to 10 and she acknowleged she focused more on movies from the last 30 years. I think if she was able to include 100 couples, she’s STILL have trouble narrowing down the list. There are just so many good ones. I would have included another recent movie couple–Burt and Verona from “Away We Go.” So great together.

I forgot Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
