Check Out Rainn Wilson’s Soul Pancake

posted by dross

raiinwilsonpicforic.jpgWho knew everyone’s favorite “Office” character was such a spiritual dude? Although Rainn Wilson is open about his Baha’i faith, he’s doing much more to spur discussion about religion and God.
Wilson’s new venture, Soul Pancake, is a website he’s helped create about religion’s big questions. In the site’s introductory video, Wilson strums a guitar while singing a little ditty and then smashes his instrument before channeling Lewis Black (in attitude, not message) and saying:
“I am sick of spirituality being airy-fairy, hippy-dippy, and precious. I want to have a debate about life’s big questions and de-lamify talking about God and religion. Soul Pancake is where spirituality and creativity meet.”
Although there’s not much more to the site yet, Soul Pancake did send out an email newsletter yesterday promoting their new Spatufist logo contest, in which readers are encouraged to upload photos of themselves holding spatulas above their head.
So what do you think? How do you combine your spirituality and creativity? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.

Just finished a pancake breakfast and ready to pop. I did eat a couple.
I agree with the concept. I want ‘churchie’ folks to know they should feel good and even child-like.
You have to explore and be curious, then creativity will be born.
Spirituality needs a rebirth and breakfast is a good start.
Sorry I missed the photo opportunity this morning making the cakes.

Has anyone ever watched the Hoda and Kathie Lee hour, on the 4th hour of the Today’s show? It is hallarious! Hoda tries to be diplomatic with the very rediculous subjects they have to talk about, while Kathie Lee will not shut up! She is more overbearing than she was when she was on the Regis Philbin show! Saturday night live did a great duo on the satire end of the show!

I have started writing a blog and writing poetry. It helps ground me in where I am at spiritually: http://www.hoosierinthelandofcotton.wordpress.com
I am, also, beginning a campaign to change the negative pervasive world view of Murphy’s law. I am proposing, Al’s Law of Serendipity, “Wonderfully good things appear at unexpected times and places.”
