Loving The Sound of Music. NBC airs its new live production of The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood tonight (12/5) at 8:00 PM (ET). As requested, readers have weighed in with their favorite Sound of Music memories — and we have our two winners.

A Sound of Music gift pack that includes a poster, T-shirt and a CD that features songs from the new production is being sent to Yusuf of Boston who wrote:

My favourite memory will always be Julie Andrews singing “The Hills Are Alive With The Sound of Music”…the magical opening that set the scene for the most incredible film ever made and one whose sheen will never fade. On a recent trip to Munich, I traversed to Salzburg and was shown the actual hill where she sang that decades ago! It was surreal!

A second gift pack with the same goodies is off to Kathy of Maplewood, NJ who shared these memories:

I totally love “The Sound of Music” because I love the whole family! I buy all sorts of books that were written by the cast members. I have book written by Maria Von Trapp, the mother. I have a book written by Liesl, the oldest daughter. I have a book written by the father– about his life in a submarine. I’ve been to Salzburg so I know where the movie was made. I bought the book on “The Sound of Music” in Salzburg! We took a tour of where all the Trapp family members are buried. The tour was given by one of the great grandchildren. I went to the 50th anniversary of “The Sound of Music” at Barnes & Noble! One of my favorite songs is “Edelweiss”. In fact, I have a piece of edelweiss hanging in my kitchen. I totally love “Edelweiss”! That’s one of my favorite songs!  I saw the play revival on Broadway. Of course, I’ve seen the movie many times! I’m a super “Sound of Music” fan!
