Needless to say, when the touchy subjects of birth control or abortion make headline news, I usually bite my tongue but this time I will add my practical 2 bits.

I have to agree with pragmatism over politics or religion. As much as I respect life, sometimes, birth control and abortion are okay.

I fostered children for 15 years, praying every day for the strength to help the children with compassionate principled love, and to be able to let them move on to their new lives after their  temporary stay at our home. But, fostering taught me that some people are not ready to parent and some children suffer unnecessarily from abandonment and confusion.

There is no easy answer to birth control or abortion, or even to having children. There is no panacea from a mortal based world. Each situation is unique in and of itself. What is best for one person is not necessarily best for another person.

The person who opposes birth control or abortion can’t expect other people to live up/down to their standard just as the person who supports birth control or abortion can’t expect others to live to their standard.

It is too bad when harsh language is thrown back and forth between opponents, but I’ve learned to listen to both sides because generally there is some truth to their thoughts. Unoffended, I can become aware of the truth that life is valuable but so is genuine love for the children. I believe this awareness can help expand the collective consciousness of honesty and good-will and provide the correct answer to each person for their current need.

From 21st Century Science and Health, “Praise is to God and peace to the struggling hearts! Christ has removed the obstacle from the door of human hope and faith, and through the revelation and demonstration of life in God, we are elevated to possible at-one-ment with the spiritual idea of God’s children and our divine Principle, Love….Unless our harmony and spirituality are becoming more apparent, we are not gaining the true idea of God. Consequently, the body will reflect what governs it, whether it is Truth or error, understanding or belief, Spirit or matter. Therefore “submit to God and be at peace with him.”[1] Be attentive, sober, and vigilant. The way is straight and narrow which leads to the understanding that God is the only Life. It is a fight with the flesh, in which we must conquer sin, sickness, and death, either here or hereafter—certainly before we can reach the realm of Spirit or life in God.”

[1] Job 22:21
