There’s a new diet pill out, approved today by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).  It’s the first one in almost a decade.
Called Qnexa, the FDA calls it “safe and effective,” although quite a few test participants dropped out of studies due to negative side effects.  It’s a combination of the amphetamine phentermine – which was in the troubled diet pill Fen-phen .  That was pulled off the market because of possible heart damage.  It also contains topiramate an anti-convulsant.
Here’s an article on it from ABCNews.com, Good Morning America, feature Dr. Richard Besser, their Health and Medical Director.
I’m not at all in favor of diet pills.  I took some years ago, and they had some serious side effects with me.  Further, combining drugs that supposedly “suppress appetite,” and “calm” you, leaves me highly skeptical.
As I have written many times, the best way to lose weight is by putting your faith in God into action, and learning and practicing sound nutrition, regular physical recreation, emotional expression, and great, loving relationships.
