Before you eat, ask yourself, “How truly hungry am I?” Then put your hunger on a scale from 1 to 5.  This can help you become conscious of the link between your mind, body, and your eating habits.

Five is super starving. One is not hungry at all, or already full. Three is average. If you’re only at a “3,” then eat accordingly – only an average (small) amount. OK? Or perhaps wait a couple of hours.

If you’re super starving (“5”) then you should have a little more than average–but never stuff yourself. Now, if you are really not hungry or still full from a snack, then do not eat! Or only have a few bites. It’s simple.

If you’re not that hungry, at, say a “1,” then just don’t eat.  Do something else.  Read.  Go for a walk.  Hug someone!

Of course, thinking about and identifying your emotions before and after you eat will also help you determine how much and when to have your next meal.

Above all, asking God for help will be your best and ultimate guide to your deepest satisfaction and conscious behavior.
