Have you ever believed that turkey makes you sleepy? Or that if you drop something and pick it up within 5 seconds there are little bacteria gathered?  Or my favorite, going outside when it’s cold can give you a cold?

There’s an interesting new book that came out recently, “Don’t Swallow Your Gum: Myths, Half Truths and Outright Lies About Your Body and Health,” by Dr. Aaron E. Carroll And Dr. Rachel C. Vreeman of Indiana University.  It shatters these old beliefs and folk tales in a very amusing way.

A review of it is in a Tina Parker-Pope review in the New York Times.

I thought you might enjoy debunking your old beliefs.  The truth will set us free, don’t forget!
