Having trouble staying with a healthy food plan? Tempted by foods you want to binge on? Losing control over snack foods or desserts? Get away from them.

Don’t buy them, and you’ll save a lot of money. Don’t stock them on your shelves or in your refrigerator.  Remember: out-of-sight is out-of-mind is -out-of-stomach!

What to do with cravings for binge, junk foods?  Always remember that cravings only last a little while. I find that an intense craving will only last anywhere from 3-10 minutes. The secret is to just do something else, anything, that will get your attention off of the craving. Staying away from the food, and distracting yourself WORKS! For example, last night, I had an intense desire for something sweet – ice cream. I wanted to go to the ice cream store, big time. Of course, I do not stock the stuff in my freezer, number one. I know that ice cream is a trigger/binge food for me.

If in a food emergency, I always pray to God for help in such moments, too. Then I decided to talk to our son, and watch a documentary with him. After a little while, no more craving. Give the binge, junk, and troublesome foods to God, get distracted with something else and stay away from being tempted.
