At any moment, it’s easy to be tempted to fall back into old overeating habits. Try some brand new habits instead.   Instead of more expensive meats, junk food, snacks and prepared or packaged foods, eat more vegetables and fruits.

If you feel the urge to splurge, go ahead and have seconds – but only on the vegetables and fruits. It’s hard to go overboard on those. Vegetables and fruits fill you up with fiber and nutrients and are naturally lower in fat and sugar. Have a giant helping of steamed spinach or kale. Pig out on carrots. Feast on sautéed broccoli or escarole with plenty of garlic. Have a giant fresh salad with tons of different fresh vegetables: lettuce, chopped peppers, onions, beets, tomatoes, shredded cabbage, cucumbers, and paper-thin sliced zucchini (with a big tablespoon of really great dressing mixed through and through).

Perhaps a colorful bowl of fresh fruit might be just the treat your soul desires. Try something exotic. Try making a special smoothie by blending pomegranate juice with Crenshaw melon or yellow watermelon, strawberries, Jonagold apples, blood oranges, kiwi, and blackberries.
