The Deacon's Bench

While spending a lazy Saturday surfing through iTunes, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Kristen Chenoweth has a Christmas album. My wife and I first discovered Chenoweth a few years ago, in a revival of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” We were instantly smitten.

A couple years ago, for our anniversary, we went to a concert performance of Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide,” with the New York Philharmonic, starring KC herself. Below is her interpretation of that musical’s most famous number, from a 2004 concert with the Boston Pops.

I doubt anyone, anywhere, has ever done this better. Want to see and hear pure joy? This is it.

She has a beautiful voice, and is one of the best performers of our present age here in the States.Besides, I love Candide. This at least rivals Barbara Cook’s recording (as I have never seen her performance).Blessings,Gabe M.

Kristen Chenoweth is pretty much amazing at anything she does. Be sure to check her out on YouTube doing “The Girl in 14G” and “Taylor the Latte Boy.”She was great on “The West Wing,” too.Chenoweth also has spoken openly about being a person of faith.
