I like to call my obligations, requirements, promises, “things to Do,” –

Targeted Completion Dates. Years ago I stopped using the phrase, “deadlines,” for many reasons.  Not only do I react to the history of the word and how it came to be (fascinating story I will tell another time) but operating on a specific time line has enough pressure inherent to the process without adding to it by  inserting a word that contains “DEAD.”

Targeted completion dates imply aim, planning and a specific target.  Some Mondays the target becomes a MOVING TARGET and the skills that are called upon are flexibility, compassion for myself and others and a highly imaginative mind.  If this is that kind of day for you, then I offer the words that my friend, Dr. Deanna Davis, just offered me.

“Take a deep breath.  Set aside everything but what absolutely must be tended right now and choose the thing that brings you the most joy.  Do that.”

And to that, I will add, “Make sure you know where your sense of humor is and have it at the ready.”

Happy Monday.  Whether you have a moving target….or ARE the moving target.
