What does it take for us to become more like Christ? As we have seen, we can’t do it in our own strength; only the power of the Holy Spirit can change us. But how does that happen? How do we release the Holy Spirit’s power to change us?
We’ll look at one of three ways in each of the next three journal entries.

First, it requires repentance. This means asking God to show us areas of our lives where sin still rules and we haven’t allowed Christ to be Lord—and then deliberately turning from those sins.
If your spiritual life is dry and barren, begin by praying the psalmist’s prayer: “Search me, O God, and know my heart . . . See if there is any offensive way in me” (Psalm 139:23-24). Ask God to show you any area of your life where sin still rules, and then repent of it. Write about those areas here. What is your strategy for turning away?
