Vegan Diet Reverses Diabetes Symptoms

This new study sort of gets you thinking that the folks once considered “extremists” (like vegans) actually prove to be leaders dragging us all in a good direction. I do not practice a vegan lifestyle, but I learn much about good eating through their literature. Likewise, I do not homeschool our children, but I used to belong to a homeschooling parents’ book group (Mr. Chattering found this quite disturbing), and boy, did I gather good learning resources.

Anyway, the article I’ve linked to above says that “people who ate a low-fat vegan diet, cutting out all meat and dairy, lowered their blood sugar more and lost more weight than people on a standard American Diabetes Association diet.”

Not all that surprising. But still a big “wow” in terms of future medical implications.

I’m so happy to hear this news! Not only is it good for our bodies, it’s good for the planet. But I also find this a bit disturbing. When the dietary recommendations of two top institutions — the American Diabetes Association & the American Heart Association — are contradicted by independent studies like this, is it any wonder Americans are confused about what to eat?>

Was in prompt care today with my husband, a USDA food scientist, after he became ill from eating a chicken appetizer at a Chinese restaurant last night. He spit it out, seeing that it was raw in the middle. I had already wolfed down all of mine, being a hearty sort. He now refuses to eat meat, so I guess it’s back to semi-vegetarianism/Mediteranean diet for us. Wonder if God was trying to tell us something. All things work together for good………..Please share your fave vegan/veggie/seafood recipes with me!!!!!!!!!!!!>

This sounds great to me. My husband has diabetes and is very bad when it comes to staying to a routine diet. I hope that this will help him because he does love vegetables!>
