I love movies, From the time I was a child, walking into The Fox Theater in Willingboro, NJ (and as silly as it might seem, before I entered the building, at around the age of 3, I really believed we were going to be inside the belly of a giant fox:) to watch a Disney movie, I was hooked.  Just about any genre but those containing blood and guts and gore, appeals to me. For that period of time, sitting in the darkened room, I find myself transported to other realms and have the opporunity to live many lives all at once. By far and away, ‘message’ movies appeal to me most of all. So many films have obvious and subtle spiritual content; the messages of which resonate for a long time afterward. The original 3 Star Wars movies contain such deep wisdom.  Yoda is my favorite green sage (Kermit being the other one:) and I often quote his dialog with Luke Skywalker regarding the word ‘try’.  “Try not. Do or do not. There is no try.”  It’s like asking someone to try and take a pen from your hand. They either take it or they don’t take it. Simple as that.

I enjoyed Avatar for similar reasons, although I found myself with motion sickness during some of the more active scenes and had to close my eyes and stabilize. I was able to see similarities in concept with some of my most beloved books, such as Stranger in A Strange Land (with the phrase “I see you.”, being similar to the “Thou Art God” greeting) , The Kin of Ata Are Waiting For You and 2150 A.D. (both about dreams being real and the main character in 2150 being a Viet Nam vet who had lost a leg and in his dream state goes to a time and place in which he has full use of his vibrant, energetic body and learns spiritual lessons.
