Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.  Prov. 16:3

Everyone tells you to think positive thoughts. I’ve tried to do that when I was down, but it didn’t work.  I knew I was lying!  You can fool other people, but it’s hard to fool yourself, and impossible to fool God.

And my thoughts don’t make things happen, anyway, in spite of what the popular notions of “The Secret” and similar positive-thinking mindsets say. In fact, those ideas are really a curse, because they make people think they are a god, managing their universe. In reality, every good thing comes from the one true God (James 1:17)  We owe everything to Him.

God presents the matter in just the opposite way in the above verse.  First commit, surrender, your works to God.  For us that means committing our weight loss goals and healthy living plan to Him.  When we do that from the heart, our thoughts fall in line. We can think positive thoughts because we ARE positive.  We know we can do it because He promised to always be with us. (Hebrews 13:5) We know that we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us. (Phil. 4:13)  We know that if we commit our way to Him, He will bring it to pass.(Psalm 37:5)

He is a good God — and He wants you to be healthy to serve Him.  Commit your way to Him, and you WILL be thinking positive thoughts on your journey to the state that is better than beautiful and Beyond Gorgeous!
