I realize I have offended several readers with point 8 of my 12 Things I Learned in High School.
I grabbed the obese example from my post on extramarital affairs, and because it was out of context, it looked as if I were saying don’t befriend overweight people, which I definitely did not mean. So here is my revised point:

8. Peer pressure never goes away.
Your friends influence you more than you think. Studies show that folks who hang out with optimists become optimists themselves; folks who hang out with cheating couples are more inclined to cheat. So choose your pals wisely.
