Full moon tomorrow!

Moon and Trees by Sherry Wacker

This last week of June has a strong Saturnine focus, with the Full Moon tomorrow in Capricorn coming on the heels of the final phase of the opposition between Saturn and Neptune, and followed July 1 by a conjunction of Venus to Saturn. Saturn brings the noble but somewhat dreary attributes of commitment, responsibility and discipline to the equation, and with the Full Moon in Capricorn (discipline and work) opposing the Sun in Cancer (family and love), duty to family is of utmost importance now.

Because Saturn places restrictions on us and creates blockages that force us to work harder at whatever we’re doing, we may feel now that we are taking a step backwards for every step forwards. This sense is exacerbated by the six planets that are traveling in retrograde motion now! (Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron) Our sense of responsibility and disillusionment leftover from the Saturn/Neptune opposition may tempt us to adopt a defeatist perspective but that would be a mistake. Under the influence of Saturn, slogging determinedly through the obstacles we face will result in certain success as Saturn, more than any other planet, rewards us for our hard work.

More on this Saturn/Neptune opposition! In the children’s picture book called “There’s a Sea in my Bedroom”, a young boy, David, is afraid of the grey wet monster of the sea (Neptune)that is chasing him. He turns to the shells on the shore (Saturn’s material form and reality) and takes home a conch shell. Back in his bedroom, he remembers that you can hear the sound of the sea if you place the shell to your ear.(Spirit in matter-Neptune within Saturn- sounding inspiratively)The sound is gentle and friendly so David calls it forth; it gushes into his room creating a sea controlled (Saturn) by his own imagination (Neptune). He is overjoyed and frolicks in the water in his room. His parents (Saturn) discover him in his joy and dispel(Saturn)his imagination (Neptunian dreams and spiritual ideals) but he has conquered his fearful illusions (Neptune) and returns to the sea to swim in it with delight

I love this story Cynthia! And what a great image for the positive aspects of Saturn and Neptune

Further reflection brings in the current Venus aspecting both Saturn and Neptune. Venus rules the bedroom – the setting for this story! I came upon it serendipitously when doing some casual relief teaching with 6 year olds. The grade teacher thrust the book into my hands and said, “read it to them!” The child Leo in all of us began to play. The kids loved it and I felt that I had been given a gift to play with as well

Neptune in Pisces and the question of reality
Neptune just slipped back into Pisces where it will remain until 2025.  Neptune's role in the astrological pantheon is to cause us to question where the physical world ends and a more transcendent reality begins.  It therefore rules our spiritual experience, but it can also be confusing and induce
