Sue Monk Kidd
Award-winning spiritual and inspirational author
Sue Monk Kidd is the author of "Firstlight," a spiritual memoir, and the award-winning, best-selling novels "The Secret Life of Bees" and "The Mermaid Chair" (which became a Lifetime movie). She is also a former contributing editor of Guideposts. Born in Southwest Georgia, Kidd discovered her writing gift early, but took a more traditional career path to become a registered nurse. She gained the courage to return to writing in her thirties, and has written beautiful and haunting stories--both fiction and nonfiction--ever since. She typically writes about the challenges and victories of women, weaving Christian themes throughout her work.
She is currently a Writer in Residence and board member at the Sophia Institute in Charleston, S.C.
