For so long I’ve known something is wrong.
No eye contact.
No happy babbling.
Now the doctor has put a name to my fear.
My darling, beautiful child has autism.
When I have cried myself out,
help me see the gift you have given me—
a child in Your image,
a child of Your heart,
not perfect, but not broken,
not with the future I had planned,
but with a future nonetheless.
A future where we are both secure
in Your loving abundant presence.
