Paid in Full

As the door to each sourceWPaidinFull
of financial credit slowly
closes with a sickening click,
I pray that You will help me to
unclench the familiar
grip of fear that has invaded
the pit of my stomach.
Help me remember to breathe.
Let me lift my eyes from the
pile of papers that have cast
their numerical reckoning
upon my weary spirit.
Help me to seek, instead,
the aching beauty
of a sunset,
the mysterious hope
of a full moon,
the cleansing comfort
of a gentle rain.

Help me to remember
that in the past the
Hand of Providence
has always held
the solution to my
troubling dilemmas.
Help me to trust that
once again this generous
Hand will pour its abundance
into my empty accounts
and will write across
my anxious soul this
promise I sometimes forget:
You are not alone. With faith,
all things are possible
