Hope Through Soap

Her title: Chief Soapmaker. Arzu Eren is the owner, along with her partner Fey Cruz, of Pure Eden. Their motto is, “Hope Through Soap,” and it’s the driving force behind this new, social venture business. Pure Eden produces a line of natural, artisan soaps and spa products, manufactured in a socially responsible way. They employ low-income women who have experienced homelessness or extreme poverty.

“We started this business to help women overcome serious hurdles in their lives that prevented them from becoming economically and emotionally self-sufficient. The power of a job helped us overcome obstacles; and look at us now, we’re running our own business!" says Fey Cruz.

Pure Eden is already gaining traction in the marketplace. Their products can be found in fair trade stores and online. Navigating the complexities of a start-up business can be daunting. Cruz and Eren have a team of volunteer business professionals who help them with their business planning and guide them through the rough patches.  They also have the blessings of a supportive community who understand the mission of prosperity and hope, for those who need it most.

Don't Doubt It

Why this doubt?
Doubt in my work abilities,
in the appeal of my
body's plush form,
whether goodness will come
in tomorrow's sunrise.
Doubt whether I'm doing
all I should for my children,
whether I'm really the best
I can be for my partner.
Am I truly the best me?

Alleviate this doubt.
Help me trust in my work abilities,
in the beauty that is me,
that I am doing my best
for my children and my partner
and goodness indeed shall come.

I trust You to help me deal with my doubt.
Refill my soul with confidence and love.
I know You will.
I don't doubt it one bit.
