Finding Comfort

Finding Comfort

I woke up feeling sad
understressed, overworked,
wondering why I was misunderstood
by several persons
especially those that are dear to me.

I opened the window
and felt the soothing morning breeze
Then I heard the soft call
of birds on the distant trees
the glow of the rising sun touched my face

I thought God made them all
to remind us of  his love
and enliven the soul
provide consolation and comfort
as if telling “I’m priced above them all!”

Then my gaze trailed
towards the window of  our neighbor
I saw her with a face sadder than me and shoulders drooped
Beneath  the glassed  covering
Her teary eyes I saw.

I thought I was alone in my battles
No one to console and be consoled
Maybe it was God’s way of saying
Asking me to relieve another soul
For with each other we will be strong.

There's a song that one sings called "Shalom Aleichem/ Welcome to Peace"...a song of welcome to the angels--which come in to help you keep the Sabbath, to protect you for this holy twenty-four hours during which you pull yourself out of the world and you come in to the "divine presence." end quote
