Heal a Broken Heart
3 Ways to Heal a Broken Heart
Carol was engaged to a doctor. He broke it off and she was a wreck. She was explaining the situation to her friend Linda.
"Let me get this straight," said Linda, "the bum asked you to give back the ring and all of his presents?"
"Not only that," said the heart-broken ex-fiancee, "he sent me a bill for 37 visits!"
Carol's story may be a joke, but heart-break is no laughing matter. Loss is serious business and it's best to move on sooner rather than later.
We talked to women who were able to quickly "repair" their broken heart and they shared what worked:
1. Have a good cry then stop. Set a time limit for wallowing in self-pity. Tears are nourishment for a bitter heart, not a better one.
2. No amount of discussion, dissection, and deliberation will change the situation. When you stop talking about it, your exhausted heart will thank you.
3. Fake it 'till you make it. Acting cheerful may seem phony, but the heart is easily fooled. When you smile, laugh, and pretend to be happy long enough, the heart begins to heal.
Prayer is the perfect salve for sore and achey hearts. Ask God to lay His holy hands on yours. With strength from the Creator, your heart will soon be as good as new.
