Above all, listen to your child. As uncomfortable as it may be for you to spend time thinking about death, it is crucial to hear what your child is saying. By doing so, perhaps when they are one day in the same situation, they can be more at peace with the subject. In our culture, death is a loss; we do not have to pretend that it is not. We can allow ourselves and our curious children to explore our feelings.
