Is Hanukkah about celebration or is it a religious holiday? There is no mention of Hanukkah in the Hebrew bible, but later on the sages wrote about Hanukkah in other holy books. An additional prayer for Hanukkah is included in the Jewish prayer service during the eight days of the Hanukkah festival. Jews also say a special Hanukkah prayer when lighting the menorah at home. “Blessed are you dear God, our King, who gives us blessings and commands us to kindle the sacred Hanukkah lights for eight glorious days. We gaze upon the flames inspired, to give thanks and recognize Your miracles. Amen.”
