Cheesy solution? Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold! Does this work? Well, “Sabrina” writes “I did a science project on moldy cheese and I put a slice on a plate on the counter, then I wrapped another slice up in aluminum foil. Then I wrapped another slice in cling wrap. The cheese in the aluminum foil molded fastest, and in second the cling wrap molded and then the one that was left out in the open didn’t really mold, it just ‘sweate’" and was oily and discolored.” So much for that theory! But many people don’t know that you can scrape off any mold and still eat the cheese without change in flavor or risk to your health. Watch the classic Shirley Temple movie “Heidi” and notice how the crusty old grandfather and cheese-maker cuts off the mold off of the cheese that is his livelihood!
