Excerpted with permission from "Interfaith Wedding Ceremonies: Samples and Sources." Priest:    Let us pray:     In this sacred hour, and at this special moment in time, we open our hearts in prayer on behalf of [Bride] and [Groom].     Gracious God, you have made the bond of marriage a holy mystery. With faith in you and in each other, [Groom] and [Bride] pledge their love today. May their lives always bear witness to the reality of that love.     Amen. Rabbi:    May they share their experiences and their feelings with one another and thereby find life's deepest meaning and richest happiness.     May the covenant which [Bride] and [Groom] now seal always be blessed with truth and devotion.     And may their lives be bound together in understanding and with intimacy so to treasure all of life's experiences by sharing them always in love.     Amen.
Pastor:    Today we are privileged to share with [Groom] and [Bride] a moment of supreme joy in the new life they now begin together. It is not our hour of exultation, but theirs. Yet would we speak our hopes for them. In the years ahead may their wisdom be increased, that they may always apply tenderness and strength to the trails which will surely befall them. May they never allow changing customs and fashions to dull the sense of loyal love and utter devotion now theirs. When new lives are added to the fellowship that is their home, may they give thanks for the blessing of a child, and bring it to the fullness of its promise by the same light which now glows in them. And may they look beyond the limits of their own existence to the larger family of man, realizing its just claim upon them. For no marriage ought to be celebrated, nor none fulfilled, unless a portion of its end be directed toward the ennoblement of all mankind.
