This image received world-wide attention when it was released. After Vancouver lost in the Stanley Cup decider the city erupted in riots. Scott Jones and his girlfriend, Alex Thomas, were simply trying to get home when they were caught by a wave of riot police. Beaten by the riot shields, the two fell to the ground with Jones trying to protect Ross. After the police passed, Jones attempted to comfort a terrified Thomas in a moment of tenderness that was captured on film for eternity.
