Pope John Paul II

Pope John Paul II

Pope John Paul II was one of the longest reigning popes in history. He tirelessly preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ, defended life in all forms, wrote prolifically on Catholic topics such as the Eucharist and the rosary, pleaded for peace in the world and created more Roman Catholic saints than any other pope. A charismatic figure, John Paul used his influence to bring about political change. One of the most beloved popes among Catholics and non-Catholics alike, John Paul captured the world’s attention and admiration during his 26-year pontificate. In his final years, his steps became halted by illness and his speech became labored; but, his indomitable spirit continued to touch and teach us all. Upon his death in April of 2005, 3 million people stood in line to tell Pope John Paul II goodbye.
