What is lupus? The Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR) says:
“Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which a person’s immune system mistakenly attacks health tissues, cells and organs (www.lupusresearch.org)." Lupus can damage any part of the body, including skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body (Lupus Foundation of America, LFA, www.lupus.org). Lupus is not contagious, and there is no cure.
