Bible Verses and Devotionals for Lent

First Sunday of Lent

Mark 1:12-15

And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. He was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him. Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the Good News of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the Good News."

  • There is time for every activity under the sun- a time to act and a time to pray.
  • Sometimes the need is to act, and God calls me to go out and do something.
  • At other times, I just need to spend time alone with God, and that will give me the strength and the wisdom to do the right thing when it is the time for doing.
  • Can I speak to the Lord and ask him where he is calling me now?
