A Sacramental Marriage
Since matrimony is a sacrament, God grants the spouses the necessary graces to love each other faithfully, to raise their children properly, to bear each other’s defects and the difficulties of married life and to sanctify each other.
In the Catholic Church, matrimony is seen as a vocation which sanctifies. In other words, it provides a path for the husband and wife to attain heaven. They grow in holiness through their self giving and maturing in their love so that it more fully reflects Christ’s role as bridegroom (Jeremiah 31:31-33).
