Pope Benedict XVI His Journey to the Papacy

Joseph Ratzinger (top right) was the son of Maria and Joseph, who was a policeman. The devout family attended Mass three times a day on Sundays and also went to Mass on most weekdays. Author David Gibson writes that young Joseph collected missals, the books a priest uses to say Mass, like other kids collect baseball cards. Joseph had an older sister named Maria and an older brother named Georg (top left).
