The Green Mile, a
movie based on an exceptional serial novel by Stephen King, centers around the
character of John Coffey. The gigantic
Coffey is a wrongfully accused death row inmate who possesses amazing healing
powers. Those powers unfortunately come
at the cost of his own health. He seeks to use those very abilities to
aid those who have imprisoned him, seeing the good in them whether they want to
see it in him or not. Coffey is a character who is as selfless as he is sympathetic,
navigating a story that is far more dark than it is uplifting. Ultimately The Green Mile is a story about
forgiving those who seek to even do you the greatest of harm, even when it
means paying for it when all that you have.
