It's an unlikely friendship that forms between the Caucasian Brian Piccalo and the African American Gale Sayers, two rival football players on the same time during the Civil Rights movement. That real life friendship is the basis of the 1971 television movie and 2001 remake of Brian's Song. Their relationship overcame the odds of racial divides and deepened when Brian was stricken with cancer. It's a sports movie that goes on and off the field to the fraternal devotion that extends beyond our differences.
