A more exuberant portrayal of faith has never been found on the big screen. Sidney Poitier's portrayal of a drifter coerced into a building a chapel by a crafty German nun is filled with humor and heart in just the right proportions. One of my favorite movie scenes of all time is when Poitier dares to debate the Bible with the Mother Superior.
Quote: A man, he gives wood... bricks. In time, what does he get? A chapel... a place where his children can receive the sacraments.
