Reality TV Sleaze-O-Meter

BY: Ellen Leventry

What Americans hath joined, plain sense put asunder. On "Married By America," neither America's chosen twosome nor the racy also-rans went through with the scheme and took their vows. The producers might consider deeply Jill's view that marriage is a sacred act that should be entered into soberly. They should also consider how they came to be taught moral sense by a woman who posed for Playboy.

Sleaze-o-Meter sees a higher lesson in all this. To paraphrase Thoreau, if America comes to do you a good turn, run away.

Married by America
Jill and Kevin decided amicably not to marry, to the visible relief of Kevin’s family, while Tony assured Billie Jeanne of his true feelings, then ditched her at the altar. Two showerheads for robbing America of a wedding, and two for the beer that sympathetic Duane tossed at Tony's family.
Fraternity Life
Watching the boys play "Hide the Potato" in Alex’s boxer shorts and Jarreau scratching himself only made us want to wash our hands until Dan, who passed out next to the toilet, managed to take a last swig after being roused.
The Bachelor
We thought the feeding frenzy on the Moroccan date ended badly when our gallant bachelor fed vegetarian Liz a hunk of lamb. But then she ate it, mumbling that she better get points for this.
Sorority Life
Karissa depledges after the sisters institute a new rule interefering with her "romp schedule" with Justin. Meanwhile Tim, bucking for a shot at "Married by America," breaks up with Nicole after she confesses that she really likes him.
Survivor
Rob anchors the episode, commenting on the novelty of being so close to a hot girl (Heidi) and not have a handful of singles.
All-American Girl
As the show devolves into "Star Search meets Miss America," and the girls prance around in midriffs, host Mullany hits on judge Ginger Spice.
