Why We Love the Hobbit
By Corine Gatti
The Hobbit is a story of good overcoming evil. Courage versus fear, exploring a world outside our comfort zone and stepping out in faith when it’s rather uncomfortable. Bilbo Baggins just wants a quiet life at Bag End.
Although, not a recluse, Baggins goes with the ebbs and flows of life, sucking on his pipe, enjoying good food and drink outside of Hobbiton. Gandalf, an old wizard, challenges Baggins to join him on a journey and reclaim a treasure from the dragon Smaug of Middle-earth with a group of dwarf militants.
The storyline of The Hobbit is something we all can identify with at some point in our lives. Here are just a few reasons why we (I) love the Hobbit.
