For most of us, faith is a pilgrimage that lasts a lifetime. Like the character Christian in John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress, we find ourselves lost in the Slough of Despond or trapped in Doubting Castle. The journey often takes us through dark spaces and over steep mountains on our search for God. When I was in my early twenties, I left the church for a few years and began my own pilgrimage in search of answers to my faith questions. I had no idea where that search would take me.
