The Raft is Not the Shore

Now out of print, this "conversation" between Catholic priest Berrigan and Vietnamese Zen master Hanh made waves before Christian-Buddhist dialogue was fashionable; it shows the calls for peace and social justice that lay at the heart of both Buddhism and Christianity. Author and essayist Bell Hooks numbers it among her favorites: "Even though I read a book a day, there are always books that stand out--that touch me in the very core of my being.
