Courage, Not Weakness

“Having a soft heart in a cruel world is courage, not weakness.” –Katherine Henson

Many of us are told that in order to be strong we have to get over what we're going through and suck it up. Strength then becomes a process of not showing emotion and weakness becomes a process of showing it. We hide from what’s going on to protect our soft hearts, to protect ourselves when not confronting the pain only makes matters worse. In this quote, we are reminded that having a soft heart in the cruel world that we live is not weakness, but courage. There is strength in our vulnerability and our weakness. We can find power when we don’t let the world take away from that.
