Billy Graham

Protestant leader whose lifelong ministry has touched millions

The "Protestant Pope," Billy Graham has been the world's leading evangelist since 1949, bringing a message of hope and love to millions. He continues to speak even though he is 82 years old and fighting illness.

Through his efforts this year, more than 10,000 Christian leaders from many denominations and countries around the world were brought together for "Amsterdam 2000." The gathering energized evangelists, especially those from Third World countries, to spread the word. Graham urged the crowd to make evangelism the church's priority, banish moral blight, and "roll back the poisons of racism, poverty and injustice."
