I'm here to remind you today to eat your fruits and vegetables. There are piles of scientific studies that suggest eating fruits and vegetables helps boost the human immune system, and perhaps offers disease prevention. I’m not aware of any evidence that they’re bad for you. The USDA Food Pyramid Guidelines recommend a daily minimum of two fruit servings (1 medium whole piece of fruit, or ½ cup chopped, or ¾ cup juice) and three vegetable servings (1 cup leafy greens, or ½ cup chopped). As always, I recommend eating the minimum USDA Food pyramid servings in order to lose weight. (But not if you're pregnant, nursing, or if your doctor says otherwise). Eat from all five food groups, throughout the day.
