Prayer Circles

Dear God, In your tender mercy, please watch over the little ones who must endure the battering and abuse of adults. These sweet creatures were sent to be loved and nurtured. OPEN OUR EYES! AMEN

I see the sadness in your eyes
and wisdom in slumped shoulders.
Your worldliness, I realize,
I've seen in one mush older.

You sharply cringe when Mommy comes.
There's anger in her walk.
She grabs you by the arm and pulls;
It would not do to balk.

You start to cry, she slaps your face;
A lump grow in my throat.
I long to take you in my arms;
Such anger gets my goat!

What will she do when you get home?
I cringe at ANY thought.
Have you known love at any time?
Or is anger all you've caught?

I will come back tomorrow, dear,
Social Services in tow.
NO child should ever be that sad,
but a radiant happy glow.

There are so many more of you:
We MUST take up the cause;
for in today's society
there are so many flaws.

Our children are a precious lot, to cherish, love and hold.
God made each child a treasure trove
to nurture and to mold.
