Jill Hess
A Special Young Lady

April 23, 1983 - November 1, 2000

Jill felt called to be a missionary from an early age. Her dream was fulfilled (at least partially) during her last summer when she ministered among the tribes of the Phillipines. Dozens of her family and friends saw her off at the airport. We were all filled with excitement and comforted by the fact that our separation would be short. Our feelings are not dissimilar now; although, this separation will probably be longer. We grieve, but not as others do who have no hope.

Jill is survived by her parents, Gary and Marsha Hess, her sister Jan Hess Miller, and her brother, Chad.

Students at Jill's high school circulated petitions to the West Virginia State Legislature asking that a bridge be dedicated in Jill's memory. The state legislature passed a resolution to that effect, and the governor signed it. He made a special presentation at Scott High School in Madison, WV on May 10, 2001. The sign of dedication is pictured below.
