Why are cute images, videos and funny quotes from kids so popular on social media and on the internet? Simply, they are a hearty and a healthy distraction from our lives. For example, the social media management company Vitrue found the peak time for social media occurs on weekdays at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. By Wednesday, people are in need of a diversion by 3:00 p.m. to get them through the day. We all need more smiles in our lives and science is backing it up. Laughter is universal and can keep your sanity and help your overall well-being by releasing healthy physical and emotional changes in the body. Since we're a nation of frazzled parents, our morose thoughts can be a launching pad to chemical reactions that can damage the immune system. When people laugh they release endorphins and they experience more pleasure. This is where little people come in. Since they live in the moment, they say whatever’s on their minds and without their filters, they can really give us a belly laugh, something we can all appreciate. Check out the funniest things kids say.

'Mom, you smell like wine.'

Kids also like to give their moms some advice on clothes, drinking and other random thoughts. According to LittleHoots, some kids are truly honest. One mom was told she smelled like wine and another parent received a fashion tip. "Mom, you should be on Dancing with the Stars, but you can't wear sweatpants." Guys, can we go easy on mom? Not a chance as we will find in the following example. One gal told her mother to lower the radio because she was on the (toy) phone. An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him, "How do you expect to get into Heaven?" The boy thought it over and said, "Well, I'll just run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter says, 'For Heaven's sake, Jimmy, come in or stay out!'"

'A long weekend.'

Kids are really observant at an early age and they can come out with some inventive ideas and proposals. They, too, also have their own views about how the world should be. "It sure would be nice if we got a day off for the president’s birthday like they do for the queen. Of course, then we would have a lot of people voting for a candidate born on July 3 or Dec. 26, just for the long weekends," explained an 8-year-old to their teacher. One child talked about having world peace. "If we could just get everyone to close his or her eyes and visualize world peace for an hour, imagine how serene and quiet it would be until the looting started." Sometimes kids have things figured out very early in life and supporting long weekends and knowing human nature is pretty advanced.

'Being polite.'

Kids will figure out how to treat people, but this can go either way since they're so honest. Sometimes they will lie to make you feel good. A father was playing catch and admitted his throw was bad. “Sorry, that was a bad throw.” His kid stops, gives him a kind look and offered, “No daddy, that was a wonderful throw.” Then takes 2 steps towards getting the ball. He stops again, turns back around and said, “When we say something nice, even when we don’t mean it at all, that’s called being polite, right?” Politeness or a lack of politeness will show up in social situations. A wife invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to their 6-year-old daughter and said, Would you like to say the blessing?" "I wouldn't know what to say," the girl replied. "Just say what you hear Mommy say," the wife answered. The daughter bowed her head and said, "Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"

'Be like Jesus.'

Kids also will share their views on church and spiritual things. A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3 and she wanted to teach them a moral lesson before church. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a lesson."If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, 'Let your brother have the first pancake, You can wait.' Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, 'Ryan, you be Jesus!'" Six-year-old Angie and her 4-year-old brother Joel were sitting together in church, Joel giggled, sang, and talked out loud. Finally, Angie has enough. "You're not supposed to talk out loud in church." "Why? Who's going to stop me?" Joel asked. Angie pointed to the back of the church and said, "See those two men standing by the door? They're hushers."

'Dear God."

Parents will overhear kids saying prayers and they're pretty genuine and hilarious. "Dear God, I went to this wedding and they were kissing right there in church. Is that okay?" And here is another doozy. "Dear God, it must be super hard to love all the people in the world, especially my brother. I don't know how You do it." One kid prayed to God about having his own space in the house. "Dear God, maybe Cain and Abel would not kill each other so much if they each had their own rooms. It works out okay with me and my brother." One little boy chatted to God about the color He uses. "Dear God, I didn't think orange went with purple until I saw the sunset you made on Tuesday night. That was really cool." We wonder what God thinks about these prayers, He's probably laughing as well.

'Don't give up.'

Sometimes kids will never give up no matter what. A dad gave his son a time out after he was becoming too violent and aggressive. After about 10 minutes of silence, "I went to check on him and found him building with his Legos. After I told him that I was proud of him for listening, I asked him what he was building. He told me he was building an ultimate Lego weapon so that he could destroy me." A 3-year old was learning the Lord's Prayer. For several evenings at bedtime, she would repeat after her mother the lines from the prayer. Finally, she decided to go solo because of her never-give-up attitude. The mother listened as her daughter carefully enunciated each word right up to the end of the prayer: "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed,"but deliver us some E-mail."

Kids will really embarrass parents, but in the same breath, they will also make you laugh. If parents can decompress a little, we might come out of this journey with our minds intact and laughing is a great start. We leave you with the encouragement to let things go and to embrace life's sometimes craziest moments as a parent.
