What is the secret to a good life? It's not about how much money you make or what your social status is.

The answer to finding joy in everyday life can be found in little things that we often overlook when they happen. We all know that doing what we love is crucial in living a fulfilled life, but it's not always easy.

In today's world, it can be hard to live well. We get constantly bombarded with advertisements and other media trying to convince us that we need more stuff to have a meaningful life. But there is value in everyday life.

You can start to live well by looking at the world through new eyes and finding inspiration from everyday moments. Happiness shouldn't wait.

It would be best if you stopped waiting for that perfect moment to be happy. By waiting for that one thing to happen, you've missed all the little moments in your life that have made you happy. Be alive now and not only when something extraordinary is happening or when everything in your life is going as you planned it.

You may be so consumed by what your future holds; you miss out on happiness that is right in front of your face. Today is what matters. Not tomorrow or yesterday, but right now.

You can't wait for the perfect moment to be happy; it's not going to happen. There is no such thing as a "perfect time." The only ideal time was when you were born. Your happiness started then. It's up to you to keep it going.

Create a self-care routine.

Make your mental health a priority. Taking time out of each day to recite an affirmation, do morning yoga, or even taking 30 minutes to simply relax can help you achieve daily peace.

Put work and all other worries out of sight and mind. Sit down and crack open that new book you've been itching to read. It can help you de-stress and feel refreshed. A self-care routine will help your other daily activities and tasks be more effective and efficient.

Don't hold grudges.

It's not good for your health. Forgiveness is an essential part of mental and emotional well-being as well as physical health. Holding on to negative feelings can increase heart rate and cortisol levels (stress hormone).

Negativity is never healthy, whether it's for yourself, others or any situation. People make mistakes, and so can you. Learn to let things go as soon as possible, even if it's complicated.

Keep a journal.

Writing in a journal can help you release feelings and understand your emotions that are hard to comprehend or pinpoint through conversation. Every person deals with stress differently, so it's helpful to clear your mind and put all of those feelings down on paper.

Write notes to yourself on any new thing you learned or what you appreciated about that day. When you're having a bad day, it's easy to keep the negative thoughts going but stop and take in what was great about that day. Seriously, stop and write yourself a note on why you appreciate today. It will help your overall mood for the following days.

Do something kind for someone else.

Joining in on a pay it forward chain is a great way to put a smile on someone else's face. It takes only three people for this chain to start, and within hours, you can make all sorts of connections with individuals who are going through the same thing as you.

There's no better feeling than knowing you made someone else's day. Doing something nice for someone else can make you feel so much better about your problems and is a great way to stop feeling sorry for yourself. It doesn't have to be anything big or expensive, just put some time and effort into it!

Stop worrying so much.

Guilt and regret don't take away today's joy, but they sure do prevent you from living out your full potential. You can never go back in time to fix a past mistake, so leave it where it belongs and move forward with what matters most. You'll never forgive yourself if you don't.

You also increase the risk of developing mental health disorders like anxiety and depression the more you worry. Life isn't always fair, and you have to find a way to cope with that within yourself. The sooner you do, the better off you'll be in the long run. Sure it's easier said than done, but trust us; you are the only thing standing in between you and your happiness.

Find ways to laugh more.

Whether it's with a friend, watching a funny movie or simply laughing at your misfortune, humor is always the best medicine. Take time to laugh, and you'll find that everything else seems a little more manageable in comparison.

Laughter helps boost your immune system and reduce stress, which means you'll be healthier and happier in the long run. Laughing releases endorphins which are your body's happiness chemicals. Endorphins can even help to reduce pain temporarily.

Laughing can even help you to burn calories. Research has found that laughing for a minimum of 10 to 15 minutes a day can help to burn an estimated 40 calories. Over a year, that could be three to four pounds lost just from laughing.

Take time to appreciate the little moments in your life because happiness doesn't always come from significant moments. Always embrace what is going on around you and never take your days on earth for granted. Live like there is no tomorrow and love like you've never gotten hurt before.

Life is about finding joy in every aspect of our lives. It's what we are put on this planet to do. We have all gotten blessed with a gift, and that gift is the ability to create our happiness. Take your life and embrace it every day because living life without value is no way to live at all.
