Did You Know that You Quote the Bible … Constantly?

How many times have you heard, "A house divided will not stand" or "A little bird told me"? Where did these phrases come from? The 1611 King James Version of the Bible is the source of many sayings we still use in daily conversation. You’ll be surprised how many things you say come straight from Scripture!
Where did that come from?

Here are a number of other familiar phrases – and the biblical verse from which they are taken:

“A den of thieves” Matthew 21:13; Mark 11:17; Luke 19:46

“Be sure your sin will find you out” Numbers 32:23

“By the skin of my teeth” Job 19:20

“Do not let the sun go down on your wrath” Eph.4:26

“Eat, drink and be merry” Luke 12:19

“Fight the good fight” 1 Tim.6:12

“Fire and brimstone” Genesis 19:24; Psalm 11:6; Ezekiel 38:22; Luke 17:29; Revelation 9:17-18

“Flesh and blood” 1 Corinthians 15:50; Eph.6:12

“Hold your peace” Exodus 14:14; Leviticus 10:3
