WASHINGTON (AP) - The Rev. Charles Wright, whose selection as House chaplain triggered charges of religious bias in Congress, offered to withdraw this week in a private meeting with Speaker Dennis Hastert, Republican sources said today. Wright, his nomination in limbo for months, made his offer amid signs that Hastert was moving quickly to find a replacement. Republicans are eager to quell a controversy in which some Democrats accused them of anti-Catholic bias for passing over a priest last fall when Wright was tapped. Wright, a Presbyterian minister, could not be reached for comment. John Feehery, Hastert's spokesman, declined all comment on the matter.
