Bridget Jones Diary

Bridget Jones's Diary is a 2001 British romantic comedy film directed by Sharon Maguire. It is based on Helen Fielding's novel of the same name which is a reinterpretation of Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The adaptation stars Renée Zellweger as Bridget, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.

Enchanted

Enchanted is a 2007 American musical live-action/animated fantasy romantic comedy film. The film stars Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey, and Susan Sarandon. The plot focuses on Giselle, a Disney princess, who is forced from her traditional animated world of Andalasia into the live-action world of New York City. Enchanted was the first Disney film to be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, instead of Buena Vista Pictures Distribution.

The Notebook

The Notebook is a 2004 American romantic drama film directed by Nick Cassavetes and based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks. The film stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams as a young couple who fall in love in 1940. Their story is narrated from the present day by an elderly man telling the tale to a fellow nursing home resident. Many refer to the film as a sleeper-hit because DVD sales have created what many refer to as a cult following.

Walk the Line

Walk the Line is a 2005 American biographical drama film directed by James Mangold and based on the early life and career of country music artist Johnny Cash. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Robert Patrick.

The film focuses on Cash's early life, his romance with June Carter, and his ascent to the country music scene. The film was nominated for five Oscars at the 78th Academy Awards, including Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Costume Design. The film grossed more than $186 million worldwide.

Legally Blonde 1 & 2

The Legally Blonde franchise began in 2001. The film is directed by Robert Luketic, written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith. It is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown. The sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde was released in 2003. Both films were a success grossing collectively over $240 million at the box office. The films have inspired a Broadway show  that was also very successful.

Twilight Series

The Twilight Saga is a series of five romance fantasy films from Summit Entertainment based on the four novels by the American author Stephenie Meyer. The films star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. The series has grossed over $3.3 billion in worldwide receipts and consists, to date, of five motion pictures. The first installment, Twilight, was released on November 21, 2008 and the last film released in late 2012.

Love Actually

Love Actually is a 2003 British Christmas-themed romantic comedy film written and directed by Richard Curtis. The screenplay looks into different aspects of love as shown through ten separate stories involving a wide variety of individuals, many of whom are shown to be interlinked as their tales progress. Set primarily in London, the story begins five weeks before Christmas and is played out in a weekly countdown until the holiday, followed by an epilogue that takes place one month later.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

My Big Fat Greek Wedding is a 2002 romantic comedy film written by and starring Nia Vardalos and directed by Joel Zwick. The film is centered on Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos, a middle class Greek American woman who falls in love with a non-Greek upper middle class "White Anglo-Saxon Protestant" Ian Miller.

The film was nominated by the Academy for Best Original Screenplay. The film became the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time, grossing $241.4 million in North America, despite never reaching number one at the box office during its release.

Pride and Prejudice

Pride & Prejudice is a 2005 British romance film directed by Joe Wright and based on Jane Austen's novel of the same name, published in 1813. The film depicts five sisters from an English family of landed gentry as they deal with issues of marriage, morality and misconceptions. Keira Knightley stars in the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet, while Matthew Macfadyen plays her romantic interest Mr Darcy.

Shrek

The Shrek franchise from DreamWorks Animation, based on William Steig's picture book with the same name, consists of four computer-animated films including: Shrek (2001), Shrek 2 (2004), Shrek the Third (2007), and Shrek Forever After (2010). Two television specials, the Christmas television special Shrek the Halls (2007) and the Halloween television special Scared Shrekless (2010), have also been produced. A spin-off film titled Puss in Boots was released in October 2011. A Broadway musical adaption was also released.
